Alvira Bannister Theriot was born July 10,1938 in Violet Louisiana to the parents of the late James Jimmy Bannister of Violet Louisiana and Helen Lawrence Bannister of Oakville Louisiana. She was the wife of the late Willie Theriot Jr preceded in death by her siblings Amelia Bannister Jackson, and James Bannister Jr. Sister in Law Beverly Bannister and Son in Law Dwayne Edward Britton.
She was baptized at an early at Greater Round Hill Baptist Church. Alvira was educated at Violet Consolidated High School in St Bernard Parish Louisiana. She was employed at the Clarion Hotel and Ramada Inn hotel. She moved to New Orleans after the passing of her late husband in 1967.
Alvira was a very strong woman and steadfast in how and what she wanted to do in life; momma wanted to become a nurse but instead she become a caregiver to her younger brother Don when he was born. Our mother was a great steward of her finance and become a seamstress and entrepreneur. She was a woman of great wisdom with few words. When every you asked her advice, she would give it to you one time and one time only. One notable thing she always did was pray and meditate on the word of God daily.
On Wednesday May 8, 2019 at the age of 81 God sent an angel of the Lord to summon her onto Glory with Him.
She leaves to cherish her memories her 4 children Willie Theriot III, Sabrina Theriot Britton, Simone Theriot Dukes, and Troy R. Theriot and grandchildren Cydney M. Matthews, Tamara Britton Clark, Tanya Britton, Racquel C. Matthews, Armad R. Theriot and David D. Dukes along with her surviving siblings Freddie Bannister, Don Newcombe Bannister, Terry Lee Wagner and Son in Law Calvin R. Dukes and host of aunts,uncles,nieces, cousins, family and friends.
