A Time to be Born …………
On September 24th, 1938 a beautiful baby boy was born to the union of Jessie Tilley, Sr. and Katherine Tilley, whom they would name, Jessie Tilley, Jr.
A Time to Live …………
“Sonny Boy or Tilley” as he was affectionately called was raised in Baton Rouge, LA. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at his family church, Greater Mt. Gideon Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev Marshall Leonard where he served on the Senior Usher Board Ministry. Later in life, he became a faithful member at New Ark Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Devin Wright. He loved his pastor and his church family. He graduated from McKinley Senior High. He played basketball while at McKinley and went on too win two state championships. He also attended Southern University College. He was employed with Redstick Company driving truck for years. He had many jobs throughout his life.
He was a loving and caring man. He was a God fearing man. He loved helping people. He was a tall, soft spoken man. His favorite basketball team was the “Big Blue Machine Panthers”, his number one football team “Who Dats”. Overall he was the best father ever.
A Time to Die…….…
Early Thursday morning, May 2, 2019 at 9:15 am with his beautiful daughter at his bedside. He transitioned to his new Heavenly home to be His master.
He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories his loving, caring, and devoted caregiver and daughter, Lois Jenkins; his son, Reginald Brown; his brother, Donald Ray Harris; one aunt, Francis Stewart; four grandchildren, Markous Jenkins, Ta’laydriea, Alexis, and Ashley; three great grandchildren, Jord’n, Markel and Emerie; a special play daughter, Pamela Jenkins and a host of family and close friends.
“Sonny Boy” was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Katherine Tilley; sister, Elnora Mae Harris; and two brothers, Henery Harris and Charles Leroy Tilley, Sr.
