William Alexander Lockman, III., age 55, passed away on Wednesday, December 18th, 2019. He was affectionately known to family and close friends as “Billy”. He was born on April 10th, 1964 to William Alexander Lockman, Jr. and Stella C. Lockman. Billy was the middle child of three children. He took pride in being a loving son and devoted brother to his younger sister, Darlene and older sister Retta. During his annual visits to see family; he took pride in reminding us of what a delightful nuisance he could be with his practical jokes and playful spirit. He’ll truly be missed….
Billy received his higher education at Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a child, into his late teen years; he grew up in and attended service at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Billy maintained a heart of gold, loved intensely and would give you his last. He was passionate and transparent. One never had to guess how he felt about them or where he stood.
Billy had a passion for life, family, friends and his professional career. His successes were a reflection of his commitment to being the best. His first career choice landed him in the United States Marines. Naturally, he excelled during his tenure. He was, indeed, one of the few and proud, as he was selected and served four years in the United States Presidential Honor & Color Guard for Presidents Reagan and Bush. After completing his military tour; he served, internationally, at various U.S. Embassies in Somalia, Mogadishu and Venezuela. Upon returning to the states; he followed his heart and interest in construction engineering. Employed by some of the best building corporations in the country; it wasn’t long before he found his knitch or it found him as he worked his way up and became a Project Executive for several of the finest building corporations in the country. He’d often show pictures of skyscrapers that he referred to as his baby. He was very proud and truly loved his work and his purpose.
Billy loved tennis, traveling and was an avid golfer as he traveled the world, playing on some of the best courses. He supported civil and social rights as well as social injustices against children.
Billy is survived by his mother, Stella Lockman; his sister, Retta Lockman Barber; his niece, Taylor Alexandria Barber; his maternal grandmother, Mary Chesser and a host of Aunt’s and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, William Alexander Lockman, Jr.; his baby sister, Patricia Darlene Lockman; his paternal grandparents, William A. Lockman, Sr. and Emily W. Lockman and his maternal grandfather, Jurell Chesser.
Billy you will, forever, live in our thoughts and in our hearts………….
