Audrey Bell (Knighten) Brown

On Friday, October 7, 2022, Audrey Knighten Brown, lost her battle to cancer.  She was extremely loved and cherished by her loved ones when she was called to rest with God.  Audrey was born in Clinton, Louisiana, and later became a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Audrey was the daughter of Beatrice Peak (deceased) and graduated from Capitol Senior High School in 1967.  After graduation, she married Robert E. Brown of Lakeland, Louisiana.  This union has produced three (3) children, Sharon and fraternal twins Robert and Robin.  Audrey began her career in the medical field in1976 as a Unit Clerk at Women’s Hospital and later became an Office Assistant/Payroll Manager for Women’s Healthcare and finished her career as Office Manager for the Fertility Institute of New Orleans until her retirement in October 2020.  After her retirement, Audrey was a caregiver for little Sylas McCalla, whom she always referred to as her “special baby.”

Audrey proudly served over 25 years with P. B. S. Pinchback Elks Temple #1107 as the Nettie Carter-Jackson Council Trustee; Pinchback Queen of Baton Rouge; member of the Past Day President Association and Past Granddaughter Ruler Association.  She also served as a member of the AARP Chapter of Zachary, Louisiana.  Audrey was a devoted choir member at Greater Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church of Baton Rouge under Pastor Ronald Robertson.  She also loved singing and dancing. 

Audrey leaves to cherish her memory, her children Sharon (Daniel Jr.) Donellan of Huntsville, Alabama; Robert Brown of Melbourne, Florida; and Robin (Terry Jr.) Spain of Melbourne, Florida; grandchildren Daniel III, Damian, Dominique, Nia, Devyn, and one great-grandson Daniel IV.  Her sisters Dyan (Reginald) Davis and Deloris (Issac) McCullough.  A host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.  She was preceded in death by her mother Beatrice Peak, and her brothers, Robert Knighten and Wayne (Sonny) Knighten.
