Betty Jackson Grant was born to the union of Stanley Jackson, Sr. and Torris Jackson on September 29, 1939, as the first of two children. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was 83 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
For most of her life, Betty enjoyed decorating, whether it was for weddings, church holidays, or any event she could tackle. She also enjoyed her authority, which included dominating her tasks and everyone else’s, with her perspective being top priority.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin. She was a wonderful friend and helping hand to many.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Kernan Grant, her parents, Stanley and Torris Jackson, her brother, Stanley Jackson, Jr., and her nephew, Stanley Jackson, III.
Betty is survived by her son, Gerard and wife Cynthia R. Jackson of Baton Rouge; three step-children, Jerolyn Grant Davis and Reginald Grant of Baker, and Corey Grant of Maryland; two grandchildren, Fabian Jackson and Gerelle G. Jackson of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren, Fahlyn Young and Denver Jackson of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law Rose Albert Jackson of New Roads; two nieces, Charnell Jackson of New Roads and Vickie Jackson of Central; great niece, Leah Fields of Central; and a host of cousins, other family members, and friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Second Baptist Church, 914 North Acadian Thruway West, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802, from 8:00 AM until services at 10:00 AM, conducted by Reverend Leo D. Cyrus, Sr.. Interment at Roselawn Memorial Park. A. Hamilton Platinum Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
