Brenda Young Obituary

Brenda Lee Proc Young was born On October 25,1944 to the late Ernest Proco, Sr. and Irma Lee Mulmore. She was the first born of 17 brother and sisters and was very involved in caring for many of them during their formative years and beyong. On April 11, 2022, with songs of praise filling the atmosphere, Brenda surrendered her all and marched triumphantly from labor to reward. She spent her final days surrounded by family and friends whose lived she had touched in so many extraordinary ways.

Growing up in a Christian environment, Brenda understood the need to make Jesus Christ her personal Savior and Lord. So in 1959, she publicly confessed her belief in the saving power of Risen Savior and consented to baptism at Little Rock Baptist Church under the leadership of Tev. W.L. McNell. Over time, Brenda grew stronger in her faith and commitment to the Lord and began to serve diligently as a choir member and the musician in her church. In addition, she was an integral part of the family group, the Little Rock Gospel Chariots as the musician and vocalist. She was the best female tenor around this community and of course, She was the "Queen of Ad Lib". If she didnt know the words to a song or forgot the words, she would allow the Holy Spirt to take charge and still sing that song in a praiseworthy way, what an AWESOME GIFT! She was a true servant of the Lord. If the church door was open, you could fine Brenda there with a heart prepared to worship. In later year, under the leadership of her Prater Brother Wade B. Mulmore, she served as Class Monitor in the church's school, Unity of Faith Christian Academy. She also continued to be a faithful member and powerful tenor in the church's choir until her passing. She truly loved her church and she gladly recieved the Word of God taught by her Pastor brother. Brenda remains faithful and steadfast at Unity of Faith Christian Church for over 65 years.

Brenda was educated in the Iberville Parish School system. She was a grauate of Iberville High School, Class of 1962 and was an active participant in their reunion activites.

Brenda was united in holy matrimony to Franklin Young, Sr. on March 25,1974 and together they reared and nurtured their children, Franklin, Jr. Lynette, Britt, Brenda Fran, Nina, Roylyn. Each child blessed with being reared in nurturing and admonition of the Lord. Of all the roles in Brenda's life, the greatest of these was the role of a Mother. She loved and cherished her children, they were the apples of her eyes, but then so were her children's children, France, Devone, Kendrick (KJ), Kendall, Kolin, Michelle, Naaia, Mazi, Jordan and Tigre.

Known for her ease in frequent converstations with even total strangers, Brenda will always be remebered as having a kind, friendly and loving spirit. Her signature gift of "connecting with others" through daily phone calls has already been sorely missed by family and friends. Throughout her life, she has maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. who even now are being changed by her unwavering faith and constant nurturing. To know Brenda was to truly love her.
