CARMALETA DENEAN PATE “Carma” SMITH

Carma Was born on July 28, 1972 and departed this life on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. She was baptized at an early age and attended the Greater New Guide Baptist Church, the Greater New Galilee Baptist Church and the Promise Land Baptist Church. 

Carmaleta received her education in Houston Texas at the Common Wealth Institute-Funeral and the Med Vance Institute Technical College in Baton Rouge, La. 

She worked at Charles-Mackey Funeral Home, Baton Rouge General Hospital, Neuro Medical Center and A Hamilton Platinum Funeral Service.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Rev. Walter Smith, her mother, Gloria Bowie, (Joe) her father, Joseph C. Pate, one daughter, Keaira Pate (Deroson), two sons Chavis Duncan (Veonca) and Derrick Pate. Eight Grandchildren, three sister-in-laws, Vanessa Thomas (Cornelius) Aleisha Smith,  Beverly Pate, one brother-in-law, David Smith (Frankie), three step-children, Lisa M. Smith, Malissa Smith and  Nicholes Smith, two step sisters, four step brothers. Three God Sisters, Torena Evans, Marcia Williams and Sharon Litt. Two Nieces, Dominuqe Pate Byrd (Clifton), Wanda Pate, two Nephews, Jeremy Pate (Wendy), and Derek Pate, 4 Uncles, 4 Aunts, Cousins, other family and Friends.

Carma was preceded in death by: her Grandparents, Piccola and Leon Dunn, brother, Derek Pate, Uncle, Leroy Dunn, two cousins, Dwayne Foreman and Eddie Dunn.
