Reflections on the life of Charles Edward LeBrane, Sr.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, have kept the faith, Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the LORD, the righteous judge, shall give me on that day: and not to me only, but unto them also that love his appearing 2 timothy 4:7-8
Bro Charles was born August 22, 1951, in Baton Rouge, La to the late Sim and Deola Parker LeBrane, Sr. He was a resident of Baton, La, and was educated in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System at McKinley High School. After high school, Charles attended Job Corp, where he received a trade in cement finishing and bricklaying.
Charles had a passion for singing. At an early age, he started singing in the Greater St. James Cherubim Choir and went on to sing with the Voices of Zion Mass Choir, The GSJMen, and various gospel singing groups.
Charles was a dedicated son, brother and husband. He was a caregiver to his father, wife and mother during their health issues until their deaths.
In 1969, Charles met the beautiful Linda Stevenson and were later united in marriage June 18, 1971.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory 2 sons, Reginald (Rochelle) LeBrane Sr., and Charles (Enrika) LeBrane, Jr one daughter Wakita Jackson, 2 brothers, Warren(Bernadine) LeBrane Sr and Sim LeBrane Jr. 9 grandchildren, Reginald LeBrane Jr, Damien, Eric and Cameron LeBrane, LaDarius, LaDarion, LaDarick and LaDaisha Gremillion, 4 great-grandchildren Jasiyah, Waile, Lue and Penelope LeBrane, 3 god-children, Warren LeBrane Jr, Katara Duncan and Latricia Scott, 5 nieces Cassandra(Derek) Hogan, Demiska James, Pamela (Desmond) Robertson, Melony Akylbayeva and Treniece (Joshua) Thomas, a nephew, Christopher LeBrane, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Charles is proceeded in death by his parents, Sim and Deola LeBrane Sr. wife of 49 years, Linda Stevenson LeBrane and his sister Carolyn LeBrane James.
