In Loving Memory of Charles Loyd Pickens
Charles Loyd Pickens, 87, of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on November 18, 2024 at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home.
Born on March 3, 1937 in Shreveport, LA , Charles was a beloved father and friend.
He was a devout member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1966. After his service he attended Southern University and was a member of the renowned “Marching 150” Band. Though he chose not to complete his degree, Charles dedicated his career to Southern University, working as a Computer Technician in the Computer Science Department until his retirement in 2002.
His hobbies and interests included building computers, sports cars, and a die hard SU football fan. He enjoyed the company of family and friends and was adored by many.
He will be remembered for his loving, gentle and kind spirit.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter Allison Pickens Bowers (Bryan), two sons Bryan Pickens (Tiffany) and Brandon Pickens (Tuwanda), grandchildren Alexis, Mercedes, Bre’anna, Shelby and Kylee, two great grandchildren Anthony and Andrew and numerous relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Carol Dotie Pickens, parents Joseph Andrew Pickens,Sr. and Rosalie Woods Pickens, two brothers Joseph Pickens, Jr. and Clarence Pickens.
