Cheryl Lynn Benton, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the age of 64.
Born on October 15, 1961, to the late Percy Benton and Emma Benton, Cheryl was a proud graduate of McKinley High School. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a compassionate caregiver. Cheryl possessed a servant’s heart and found purpose in helping those in need, touching many lives through her kindness, patience, and unwavering compassion.
Cheryl found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved listening to music, working word puzzles, shopping, and spending quality time with her family and loved ones. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and loving heart will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Benton and Emma Benton; three brothers, Percy Benton Jr., Vernon Benton, and Tommy Lee Benton; two sisters, Doris Walters and Lillie Maude Moore; and great-granddaughter, Ma’Kenzie George.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory one daughter, Lekeisha Benton; one granddaughter, Alesha George; three great-grandchildren, Ja’Niya George, Ma’Kayla George, and Jamaal George; four sisters, Artimese Washington, Velma Williams, Rachel Benton, and Emma Lee Benton; three brothers, Edward Benton, Eli Benton, and Robert Lee Benton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
