Curtis Wayne West Jr.

Curtis Wayne West Jr., born on April 29th, 1986, in Baton Rouge, LA, passed away peacefully on March 28th, 2024 at the age of 37. He was the beloved son of Curtis West Sr. and Janice Robinson West, and Proud father of Bentley Wayne West.
Curtis was a man of faith from an early age, having professed his belief in Jesus Christ at Promise Land Baptist Church in 1992 under the guidance of Pastor Perry Wright Jr.
Curtis received his education at Redemptorist High School, where he proudly represented the "wolf pack" alum. Later, he pursued higher education at Samford University, where he earned his Sociology degree on a 4-year basketball scholarship. Curtis’s love for basketball knew no bounds, and some of his fondest memories were created during his time traveling with Coach Collis Temple and the Baton Rouge Sports Academy.
All of Curtis’s coaches, Collis Temple Sr., Brian Hargroder, Jim Tillet, Derrick Jones, and several others over the years have served as more than just mentors; they were guiding figures who recognized Curtis's potential both on and off the court. Through their guidance and encouragement, Curtis not only excelled in athletics but also grew as a person, learning valuable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.
Outside of athletics, as a son, brother, father and friend, Curtis absolutely loved his family. The bond between him, his mom and his sister were unmatched. He was easygoing by nature, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He could effortlessly blend into the background or light up a room with his infectious energy. Curtis's presence brought joy and camaraderie to those around him.
Curtis was preceded in death by his grandparents Gilbert Robinson Sr., Edna Robinson Fisher, and Rudolph Dempsey Sr., His uncles Glenn Robinson and Ronald Robinson, and his aunt Joyce Johnson. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by his son, Bentley Wayne West; his parents, Curtis Wayne West Sr. and Janice Marie Robinson West; his sister, Lakeshia Renee Robinson; his grandmother, Bonnie Raven; Uncles Gilbert Robinson Jr, Freddie West, Robert Munson Jr., Paul West, John Munson, and Aunt Louise Munson; His niece Breasia Robinson; Nephews, Kervin Hill Jr and Derrick York II and a multitude of cousins, extended family, and friends.
Though Curtis Wayne West Jr. has left this world, his influence and spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
