Dianne Hicks Obituary

Sister Dianne Marie Hicks was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on June 24th, 1960 to the union of the late Louis and Gladys Hicks. Dianne was one of six (6) children born to this blessed union.

Sister Dianne was a 1978 graduate of Scotlandville Senior High School home of the “Mighty Hornets” and she was a most active with her Scotlandville Alumni. Upon graduating from high school Dianne continued her education in Job Corp in San Marcos, Texas in the concentrated area of nursing. Upon returning to Baton Rouge she was a Supervisor at Ollie Steele Nursing Home for over twenty-five years where she retired.

Sister Dianne assumed the responsibility of nurturing her family after the death of their Mother and she gave special attention to her Aunt, Rose Lee Lawrence. She loved to cook and it was a passion of hers.

Sister Dianne was an active member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. H. B. Williams where she served with the Nurses Guild and she was a current and active member under the leadership of Dr. Gil H. Wright attending Worship, Sunday School, Bible Study, and Sisters Ministry experiences.

 

Sister Dianne leaves a legacy of love and wonderful memories with Kerdorn Wallace, a most devoted soulmate. Her children: Shawanda (Dedrick) Hicks Morgan, Shawn James, Sr., Kendale Hicks, and Darion Hicks all of Baton Rouge, LA. Grandchildren: Shawn James, Jr. and Myshauna James; one great grandchild, Jayceon Green. Siblings: Gloria White, Larry (Zandra) Hicks, Desiree (Kenneth) Ellis, Denise (William) Lockette, Jacqueline Hicks, TyRone (Lula) Hicks, and Pamela Hicks. A godchild, Henry Broden, III and one aunt, Rose Lee Lawrence.

Sister Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Shirley Hicks, her son, Kerdorn Hicks, a granddaughter, Zyreion Hicks, aunts: Laura Anderson and Pearlie Gage.
