Doris Ann "Tee Doris" McCray Bell, affectionately known as Dori'ane, departed this life on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at her home, after 70 years of faith and unwavering devotion to her family. She was born on August 11, 1955, in Zachary. Lousiana, to the late Dorothy Mccray and Sam Russell.
Doris graduated from Capitol High School of Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1973. She later pursued a career in nursing, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse certification from Frasier College in 1986. For 27 years, Doris faithfully served as a dedicated and compassionate nurse.
At an early age, Doris accepted Christ under the leadership of Pastor Wicks a New Hope Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a longtime member
of the Usher Board and faithfully attended both Sunday School and Church School.
On October 8, 1980, Doris was united in holy matrimony to the late St. Paul Prater Bell.
Her love and legacy will forever be cherished by her children: Eric Bell, Trion Bell, and Kartasha Bell, her god daughter, Brittany Johnson: four grandchildren: Treionna Bell, Katarra Bell, Dewayne Hunt Jr., and Khai Johnson; stepchildren: James Bell, Christella Holmes, Wallace Bell, Ethel Bell (Jerry), and St. Paul Bell: siblings: Mary Lockman, Linda Hargrave, Issac McCray (Cheryl), Danny McCray (Lisa, and Vincent McCray; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins relatives, and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Russell and Dorothy McCray; he beloved husband, St. Paul Prater Bell; sisters, Creasie Johnson and Bernice Curtis nieces, Shonda McCray and Vonda Brown: and great nephew, Kortlon Johnson.
Doris’s life was a true reflection of love, service, and faith. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
