Eva Mitchell Obituary

Eva Martinez Mitchell, a life long resident of Baton Rouge, LA departed this life on May 28, 2020 at the age of 80. Eva was a loving mother, grandmother and wife.

She was born September 5, 1939, in Cecilia, LA to the loving union of the late Joseph and Aloise Martinez.

Eva was one of nine children. She was a 1958 graduate of Youngsville High School in Youngsville, LA. She then met and married the late Henry J. Mitchell in 1963 and moved to Baton Rouge. To this union three children were born. Eva's life was enriched raising her family and spending time with her siblings at family reunions. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and traveling. She was an avid sports but she especially enjoyed attended New Orleans Saints Football games with family and friends. Eva had a smile that would light up a room.

She was baptized into the Catholic Faith as a child and was an active member of St. Charles Borremo Catholic Church until she transitioned to Capitol House Nursing Facility.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Melissa Mitchell Jackson of Baton Rouge, LA and Kimberly Mitchell Chapman (Charles, Sr.) of Paulina, LA; one son, Ronnie Terrell Mitchell, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren, Charles Chapman, Jr., Reagan Chapman and Ronnie Terrell Mitchell, Jr.; one sister, Ida Blache0r of Lamarque, TX; one brother, Russel Martinez (Cynthia) of Carencro, LA; two sisters-in-law, Morena Briscoe (Ralph,Sr.)  of St. Martinville, LA and Hilda Martinez of Breaux Bridge, LA and a host of family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Henry J. Mitchell; three sisters, Eula Mae Francis, Rosa Mae Johnson, and Anna Mae Martinez; three brothers, Roy Martinez, LeRoy Martinez and Wilson Martinez.

The family held a private service and burial at the Louisiana National Cemetery.  Please join us in offering a word of prayer for the family during this most difficult time. Courteous and Professional Services entrusted A. Hamilton Platinum Funeral Service.
