Janella Jean Smith-Dale

Sister Janella Jean Smith Dale, a beloved wife, mother, grand mother, great grand mother, sister, and aunt was born September 22, 1940 in St. Martinville, LA. She departed this life at the age of 84 on April 24, 2025, in the comfort of her home. Her unwavering love and faith was a guiding light to her family and her presence will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her. Born to the late Sterling Provost and Una Lee Landry- Provost raised in Port Arthur, Texas she received her formal education from Abraham Lincoln High School graduating Class of 1959. Working for many years she retired from PAISD and Texaco Marine Department. Accepting Christ at a early age she was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. "Miss Jean" as many would call her hobbies included loved to talk, traveling, shopping and just having a good time with family and friends. A Public viewing will be held at 09:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a Rosary at 10:20 AM with Mass starting at 11:00am. Internment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery under the direction of A. Hamilton Platinum Funeral Service out of Baton Rouge LA. . She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Frederick Smith Jr.; two daughters, Veronica Smith and Tina Smith Provost (Murphy); one brother Ezell Atkins one sister Gertie Foremen both of Los Angeles CA; six grandchildren: Craig Provost (Carnikka), Leah Smith, Emeere Smith, Landyn Freddie, Fredricka Smith, and Fredrick Smith III; fourteen great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sterlin and Una Lee Landry-Provost; her husband Oscar Dale; one brother David Jones; one sister Laura Faye Jones Brenette; one grandchild; one great grandchild; one great great grandchild.
