Janie “Loise” Scott was born in the city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana on February 11, 1947, to the late Roszena “Moise” Carter and Raymond Tuniors. She departed this earthly life on October 12, 2025. She was 78 years old.
Janie was baptized at the age of 6 years old. She attended school in East Baton Rouge Parish and was a proud graduate of McKinley Senior High School Class of 1965. After high school she began working at LSU in the Cafeteria where she retired. Her servant work at Magnolia was singing in the choir which she did for over 30 years. She was also active in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Janie loved to bake and knit in her spare time.
She is survived by her daughter, Patrina Claiborne, three sisters Cynthia Gail Carter, Shelia Ray Carter of Baton Rouge and Belinda (Paul) Taylor of Lake Charles, along with a host of nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Roszena “Moise” Carter, father Raymond Tuniors, two brothers Sherman Smith Sr., and Charles Carter Sr., a sister Constance Carter, four uncles, Al J., Alfred, Nathaniel Jr., and James Carter, two aunts, Inola Carter and Camille Carter-William, and a niece Treva Carter.
