September 17, 1958 ~ September 10, 2023 (age 64) 64 Years Old
On September 10,2023 Tommy Lee Benton affectionately known as Barry White departed this life to claim his Heavenly Reward.
Tommy was born on September 17, 1958 in New Orleans, LA to the late Percy and Emma M. Benton. Tommy dedicated his life to the Lord and was baptized by Rev. Dr. Henry Lamb Jr. He became a member of the Arlington B.C. where he served the Lord until he became ill. He was a McKinley High School graduate. His favorite pastime was playing softball and spending time with his family and friends.
Tommy was very competitive and always enjoyed a friendly game of dominoes, spades, and horseshoes. He was a former employee of LSU and Walk-On's Resturant.
Cherished memories of Tommy will remain in the hearts of his sister- Artimese B. Washington, Velma B. Williams, Rachel Benton, Emma Benton and Cheryl Benton. Brothers-Edward (Mary) Benton, Eli (Annie) Benton and Robert Benton. Other cherished memories will remain in the hearts of numerous nieces and nephews and a special niece, Kathi Johnson who worked very diligent and patient as his caregiver and assistant.
Tommy Lee Benton known by many as "Barry White" was preceded in death by his parents Emma and Percy Benton, Sr. two brothers, Leroy Benton, Jr. and Vernon Benton; sisters, Doris Walters and Lillie B Moore.
