From an early age, Velma displayed a remarkable spirit of compassion and resilience. She dedicated her life to serving others and practicing her faiths and beliefs. She was known for he warm smile and generous heart, she touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Velma was a devoted member of Seventh Day Adventist, where she faithfully served in for many years. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light to her family and community, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Velma cherished the joys of traveling and spending time with her friends and family. For many years, she dedicated her life to being a preschool teacher, nurturing and positively impacting the lives of countless children. One of her favorite sayings was, "Good manners will take you a long way." After retiring, she devoted her remaining days to her loved ones and friends, making the most of every moment.
Velma will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to her faith, and her endless kindness to others. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Velma was preceded in death by her daughter Deloris Welch, her son Herman Welch II, her mother Velma Benton Thomas, her father Wilbert Thomas, her brothers Melvin Thomas and Herbert Thomas, her sister Mildred Mitchell and her grandson Keonta Welch.. Velma leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Malinda (Elder Allen) Brown, Crystal (Briley) Reed, also a Goddaughter Katrina Hall and her two sons Mark (Lolita) Welch and Theodis (Carla). Her brothers and sisters Doretha (Clifford) Honore, Deloris (Walter) Hall, Alfred (Eloise) Thomas, Isaac Thomas, Wilbert ( Barbara) Thomas and Lionel (Betty) Thomas.
Velma will also leave to cherish a host of grandchildren Evangelists Maranda (Jesse) Gilmore, Indrica Brown, Allania (Jeremiah) Smith, D'Kory Welch, Ebony Welch, Whitney Welch, Regan Welch, Christopher Price, Cardell Welch, Jamica Cobbins, Hermeisha Alexander, Herman Welch III, Braylon Welch, Hermani Welch, Jalon Welch, Malik Welch, Travis Welch, Yasmine Welch, Zaylon Welch, Alexus Williams, great grandchildren, other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
