William Singleton III

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. William Singleton III was born on June 12, 1948 to his parents the late Albertha Jackson & William Singleton Jr. but raised by grandparents the late William & Mary Singleton.

William departed this life on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at his residence in Baker, LA. He crossed over into a new life to be with God. He was 71 years old. He was loved by many people. He was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Ates at True Light Baptist Church in Ethel, LA. He was affectionately called “Sweet Willie” by many who knew and loved him.

          William received his formal education from Jackson High School in Jackson, LA.  He was employed with David Moving Company as a Truck Driver. He drove the big eighteen-wheeler trucks for over 40 years until he retired.

William was very family oriented. He would have cook outs, and on holidays often deep-frying turkeys and other specialty meats for others. He loved showing off his cooking skills. He was man of many trades and talents. He had a cool, swag and smiling personality.

William had (37) years of love, laughter, and leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife Johnnie Mae Hamilton Singleton of Baker, LA. His legacy includes his  (7) children Casey Singleton of Tucson, AZ, Calvin Henderson (Gina) of Baker, LA, Latasha Singleton Parker (Reginald) of Baton Rouge, LA, Willette Singleton Seals (Brian), William Singleton IV (Marjorie), Chalette Singleton Jones (Andrus, Sr.) all of Zachary, LA, (Daughter/Granddaughter whom he reared) Treneshia Henderson of Baker, LA; (19) grandchildren, Brandon, Calvin Jr.,  Jacorey,  Harmoni, Braylei, Brian Jr., Brannon, Mariyah, William V, MaCayla, Andrus Jr, Zalen, A’Nhyrei, Denisha, Alisha, Talisha, Reginald Jr. Shontay and Tyshana; (8) great grandchildren, Kylei, Ray’ven, Amari, Deshaune, King, Kaycee, Carli, Kyler; (3) Godchildren, Jamesia, Latrice, and Theresa; (5) sisters,  Myrtis Davis, Marie Singleton, Janice Singleton, Joyce Singleton, Cathy Jackson and Michelle Singleton; (2) brothers, Charles and Wayne Singleton; (2) sister-in-laws, Leatrice (Frank, Sr.) Alexander, Janice (William, Jr.) Lee;  (6) brother-in-laws, Joe Louis, Sr., Ruffin, Jr., Roosevelt, Sr., Jimmie, Sr., (Janelle), Felton Hamilton, Sr., and Frank Alexander, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

William will be welcomed into Heaven by his (paternal grandparents), William and Mary Singleton Jr., (parents), Albertha and William Singleton, (son) William Roddy, and (Siblings) Oscar McKneely, Mary Singleton, Paulette Johnson and (maternal grandparents).
