Willie Newton, Jr., age 65, was born on February 23, 1961, in Baton Rouge to Willie Newton, Sr. and Katie Alexander. Willie peacefully departed this life on May 08, 2026.
Willie is a graduate of Scotlandville High School and dedicated more than 30 years of hard work and service to Turner Industries at ExxonMobil. He was known as a dependable worker, a caring friend, and a man who took pride in providing for and caring for others.
Willie was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Katie Alexander, and his brother, Derrick Newton.
Willie was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, brother, son, and loyal friend.
He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Kathi, whom he met after a night out with friends. After dating for four years, the two were married on March 26, 1994, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Together they enjoyed going out to eat, taking walks downtown, traveling, watching movies, and simply spending quality time together at home.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory his loving father, Willie Newton, Sr.; his children, Kayla Warren, Summer Gilmore-Thomas (Wayne), Kenya Lewis (Ezekiel); grandchildren, his beloved siblings, Brian Graves (Shandrika), Eric Moore, Kim Gross (Aaron, Jr.), and Marshall King. His siblings-in-law, Susie Jones (Harold), Ann Washington, Yolanda Brown, Erica Butler, and Craig Washington. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friend, John Kemp and his close friend Cedric Early, known affectionately as “Peanut”. Willie loved his family deeply and found great joy in being a father and grandfather.
Anyone who knew Willie knew he had a kind and generous heart. He was always willing to help others without hesitation. His acts of kindness spoke volumes about the type of man he was.
Willie loved sports, especially cheering on the New Orleans Saints. He never missed an opportunity to watch them play. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard and spending time playing with the family dog.
Willie will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, love for family, and unwavering willingness to help others. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and love to all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
